Male with breast cancer 4.5
I was diagnosed with breast cancer December 6th, 2018. I am a patient with the Seattle Cancer Care Coalition. My team of doctors (all women!) determined that a double mastectomy was necessary. I told them the sooner the better and we scheduled surgery for January 31, 2019. Dr. Calhoun, surgeon and Dr. Hunter, oncologist worked up a medical plan and we proceeded quickly with the surgical process.
What you seen in the photo is the result of that good medical care. The post-surgery challenges were mostly to do with regaining strength and range of motion. I’ve struggled some with getting used to the new look; but my beach volleyball days are long behind me now. I’m just happy to be alive and thriving after the devastating diagnosis of “You have cancer!” I’m now 72 years old.
