Advice to newcomers:  Let people help you!  Be kind to yourself. 

Before the mastectomy: Try out all the seats/recliners/couches etc. you will be using and how to stand up/sit down without using your arms to push yourself up or down when standing and sitting!!!  Make the space you will be using the most in recovery very peaceful and accommodating prior to surgery.
