Bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction from expanders
I hope any other young woman going through this will see my photos and think “oh, ok that’s not so bad” because I didn’t have that for sure.
Breast cancer is my second cancer – diagnosed at 28, now I am 30. I had Hodgkin’s lymphoma at 15 and received bilateral mantle chest radiation.
I was told by the first plastic surgeon I saw that reconstruction on my heavily radiated chest would FAIL and that we could TRY and I would be LUCKY if it worked out. I went with a second opinion and another surgeon.
We did bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction from expanders and then an exchange surgery to implants using SRX-445 naturelle extra high profile to prevent rippling.
So far, no crazy issues, all minor cosmetic stuff! I had an extra surgery to fix some rippling and add some more fullness/cleavage.
We also did fat grafting from the abdomen. It’s not perfect but I’m so happy!
